Umeå will host Sweden's largest national design award
Design S – Swedish Design Awards – is coming to Umeå 31 May 2023. For 40 years Svensk Form has celebrated courage and innovation in Swedish design, and for the first time the award ceremony will take place outside Stockholm. The application now stands open to compete for Sweden’s biggest and most comprehensive design award.
Design is important for sustainable development and in Umeå the green transition is a self-evident and natural part of the city's development. This years announcment features twelve award categories, among them architecture, graphic design, furniture and service design. All categories are covered by sustainability as the primary assesment criteria.
Design S singles out creative and innovative solutions in every imaginable area of products, services and environments, regardless of the design field.
Application is open: November 22 – February 28

This year’s award categories
Design S 2023 features twelve award categories, one of which – Design for Systemic Transformation – is completely new and open for applications from the entire EU.

Design S 2023 is presented by Svensk Form together with Balticgruppen and Design by Umeå. The award is organized in collaboration with RISE, SVID and Umeå Institute of Design, with support by Tarkett.
