TheSe ARE THE nominees in Design S 2023!

Design S is celebrating 40 years of independent jury operation this year, to celebrate what consistently measures up in the design branches expanding field. Now we can uncover the nominated contributions in Design S – Swedish Design Awards – that is coming to Umeå 31 May 2023!

Design is important for sustainable development and in Umeå the green transition is a self-evident and natural part of the city's development. The announcement this year features twelve award categories, all categories are covered by sustainability as the primary assesment criteria. There is a whole branch with creators available that in different ways make lives good and facilitates everyday life for many of us. This peace of art is worth celebrating. Now the nominated in this years twelve award categories are uncovered, all nominated by the expert jury groups.

Statuette of the Year

This year's Design S statuette is designed by Doberman and produced by RISE in collaboration with Raffaele Errichiello and Umeå School of Architecture. The statuette is created in the organic material mycelium that comes from reishi/lacquer mushroom in combination with wood chips from local producers.

This year's awards ceremony

This year's winners will be presented and celebrated with an award ceremony at the Väven cultural centre in Umeå on 31 May, during the graduation week of the world's top-ranked Umeå Institute of Design.

About Design S – Swedish Design

Awards Svensk Form started with the award back in 1983 when it was called Excellent Swedish Design, since 2006 it goes under the name Design S – Swedish Design Awards. Design S is Sweden's foremost and broadest design award and includes all design disciplines.

The winners of Design S 2023 are selected by an industry-based jury – an expertise made up of the ultimate blend of hands-on experience and professional practice. With the award, the laureates become part of a unique selection of the absolute best in the complex design domain – while the projects are spread all over the world through the dissemination of Form

Design S 2023 is presented by Svensk Form together with Balticgruppen and Design by Umeå. The award is organized in collaboration with RISE, SVID and Umeå Institute of Design, with support by Tarkett and other partners.
